FAQ

For best results, make sure the edge is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Lightly sanding rough edges improves tape adhesion, but priming is not usually necessary
The tape can be gently lifted and repositioned during initial application. For best results, adjust quickly before the adhesive sets. Once fully bonded, removal may require heat or adhesive remover and could potentially damage the surface
Pre-finished edge banding offers a ready-to-use look and saves time, while unfinished allows you to stain or finish to match custom cabinetry. Choose unfinished if you want a perfect color match or specific finish; choose pre-finished for convenience and speed.
Apply peel and stick edge banding by cutting the strip slightly long, peeling the liner, and pressing it onto a clean, dry panel edge at room temperature.

Peel and stick edge banding is real wood veneer edge banding with a 3M pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing. Peel the release liner, press the strip onto the panel edge, and the adhesive bonds under firm hand pressure. It covers the exposed core of plywood, MDF, and particleboard, giving shelves, cabinets, and furniture a solid-wood edge with no iron, or edge bander. It is the fastest way to apply wood veneer edge banding, and the practical choice for on-site work and repairs.

Apply peel and stick edge banding by cutting the strip slightly long, peeling the liner, and pressing it onto a clean, dry panel edge at room temperature.

  1. Cut the strip about 1" longer than the edge.
  2. Make sure the edge is clean, dry, and free of dust. Lightly sand rough edges. Porous raw MDF edges hold better with a sealer or binder coat first.
  3. Work at room temperature. The adhesive needs the panel and the band at 50°F or warmer to grip properly.
  4. Peel back a few inches of the liner and align the strip.
  5. Press along the full length with firm, even pressure. A J-roller or wood block works well.
  6. Trim the ends and edges flush, press the band again, then lightly sand the corners. The bond builds to about 90% of full strength in 24 hours and reaches full strength in about 72 hours.

Choose the backing by how you work. Peel and stick needs no heat or tools. Pre-glued iron-on edge banding bonds with a household iron and suits larger DIY jobs. Fleece-backed veneer is applied with contact cement or an edge banding glue. Every species in our veneer range is available in all three backings.
