What Is High-Pressure Laminate?
High-pressure laminate (HPL) is a durable decorative surface made by compressing multiple layers of kraft paper saturated with phenolic resin, topped with a decorative layer and a clear wear-resistant overlay. All layers are bonded under high heat and pressure.
This dense construction delivers outstanding impact, scratch, and stain resistance — with hundreds of colors, textures, and patterns for any interior application.
HPL Grades
HPL is available in two main grades:
Postforming Grade (HGP) — The most common grade, recommended for horizontal and vertical applications in high-traffic areas. Can be heated and bent over a substrate radius for seamless countertop edges.
Vertical Grade (VGP) — Thinner and more economical. Recommended for cabinet doors, wall panels, and light-duty horizontal surfaces.
